FAQs
How many clients do you take per month?
Currently booking one client per calendar month (not by every 4 weeks)
Have you done a TOLAC/VBAC?
Yes, I attended a VBAC at Maple Grove Hospital. I thought the OB and Midwifery team was great and supportive of my client's wishes!
Will you support me if I want to do a medicated birth, planned c-section, or get an epidural?
Short answer: Yes!
Long answer: My goal is to support you during this very intimate and memorable experience, and if your birth vision means an epidural or planned c-section, I will support you in every capacity I am able. I will also support you if your birth plan is unmedicated, but you change your mind and decide for an intervention. Epidurals can be a gift from the Heavens sometimes. It's also okay to pivot from the birth plan when things arise. I will support you then, too.
You work full-time, what happens if I go in to labor when you are working?
Because babes come whenever they decide they want out, there is a chance I will be working at SuNu when that happens. Thankfully, I couldn't work for a better company because they support me in this work (a few of them have been called in to births themselves as chiropractors!) and will reschedule clients to different times I am available. Nearly all my clients know I am a birth doula, and know that if I have to reschedule suddenly, it means a babe is entering this world soon! Labor isn't often immediate like Hollywood shows, and there can be considerable time between water breaking and transitional labor, so in the event I am in the middle of a session when your water breaks, or when you think "uh oh, I am in labor" I will have to finish that session. But as long as I know as soon as possible, I can make sure the rest of my day is adjusted so I can come to you. I would be more than happy to discuss this more and give examples on how this looks!
Do I have to do acupuncture or CST in labor or any of the other visits?
Absolutely not! I do not force acupuncture or CST on anyone because consent is key! These tools are just part of what I have in my toolbox to support the process, but I can do one or the other, or neither!
Do you work with LGBTQI+ Folks?
Yes, and I will even bake you a cake.
Do you do sliding scale?
I will do my best to accommodate on a case by case basis. I believe everyone who wants a doula should have a doula, and I have to be able to support myself to continue to do this valuable work :)
Do you take HSA cards? Insurance?
Although I do not take HSA directly, I am happy to provide receipt for reimbursement. I do not accept insurance, unfortunately.
What if I go into labor on a holiday like Christmas?
If you have hired me as your doula, I have made a commitment to attend your birth. My priority is to schedule my lavish vacations (JK I am a Millennial) around your estimated due date. If I am out of town, I will still be able to be in contact, and I will have at least one backup doula.
